Annapurna Region

Introduction

Located in the Himalayas of Nepal, the Annapurna  trek about 300 km trailing along the Annapurna range is an explicitly major attraction of the Annapurna Region. The trek begins in Besisahar and proceeds along the Marshyangdi River with the enticing view of Manasalu and Himal Chuli. The highest altitude in the trek, about 5516 m lies at the Thorong La pass, near the boundary of the well-known Tibetan plateau. The journey includes many spectacular mountain lookouts like Annapurna (8,091m), Machhapuchhare (6,993m) and the ice pyramid Dhaulagiri(8,167m), the home of the legendary Buddhist guru Padmasamba. As the trek descends to the west from Manang to Muktinath, there emerge an infertile Tibetan like settlement of the Kali Gandaki, and the exciting part of the trek lies ahead at the world’s deepest gorge between the grand Annapurna and Dhaulagiri at dana. The Annapurna circuit trek, the trade route between Nepal and Tibet in the past is a culturally and religiously sound remote area. The trail covers up the whole Annapurna mountain region and offers a unique harmonization of people and landscapes, from the lowland to the alpine meadows and finally to the Tibet.
