Kathmandu Festival tour

Kathmandu is a renowned city for its vibrant culture and heritage. Kathmandu Valley celebrates festivals frequently as it has several festivals throughout the year. During the new year in April mid-week, Bhaktapur city celebrates a week-long festival named Bisket Jatra.  During May, Buddha Purnima observed the Bouddhanath stupa and Swoyambhunath stupa. The ever-longest festival of Kathmandu Valley is Rato Machhindranath Jatra which is celebrated in Patan city and Bungmati town. During the rainy season, Gai Jatra is celebrated in memory of relatives who died in the previous year.  Another popular festival Indra Jatra is celebrated in Kathmandu during September. Likewise, Dashain and Tihar are the greatest festivals of Nepali.  During the festival tour, we can have adventure tours like white water rafting, Jungle safari, trekking, and many more.  These festivals are celebrated based on the lunar calendar so the time and date may vary.  Here are some of the notable festivals and cultural events that you might consider including in your Kathmandu festival tour:

Indra Jatra: For centuries, Indra Jatra has been celebrated in Kathmandu Valley. The festival is dedicated to honoring lord Indra, the god of rain. During the festival, the chariot processing of the living goddess Kumari is observed.

Dashain: Dashain is celebrated for fifteen days which is the longest festival and is celebrated by Hindus in Nepal. The festival occurs in October normally where the homage to goddess Durga is a primary focus.

Tihar (Deepawali): The festival of lights and color is another great festival of Hindus which is celebrated for five days and each day is dedicated to honor different animals such as crow, dog, cow, and ox.
