Patan Sculpture Tour is focused around Patan Durbar Square. Patan is the second popular and busy city in the Kathmandu Valley, which is located in the South of Kathmandu in the Lalitpur district. Patan City is renowned for fine arts and a hub for traditional Nepali sculpture and metalwork. The centuries-old legacy of fine arts continued by the great artisans in Patan City is reflected in their intricate stone, wood, and metal carvings.  The one-day Patan City tour allows us to understand the historical and cultural significance of these crafts. Patan Durbar Square is listed in the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath Stupa, Bouddhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath, and Changunarayan Temple in Kathmandu Valley.

Day 01

One-Day Tour Itinerary

07:30 AM: Drive to Patan from your hotel.
08:00 AM: We start our tour from Krishna Mandir at Patan Durbar Square. Explore its temples and courtyards adorned with intricate carvings. Take time to learn about the cultural and spiritual symbolism in the sculptures.

09:30 AM: Visit the Rudra Varna Mahavihar, an ancient Buddhist monastery adorned with stunning stone and bronze statues. The site is a hidden gem filled with historical artifacts and rich spiritual energy.

11:00 AM: Explore a metal casting workshop to learn the traditional lost-wax casting technique used to create iconic Nepali bronze statues. Observe and participate in the process of mold-making to casting and finishing.

12:30 PM: Lunch at authentic Newari restaurant within the premises of Patan Durbar Square.

02:00 PM: Visit the Golden Temple (Hiranya Varna Mahavihar), a revered monastery renowned for its golden coverup and intricately crafted bronze sculptures.

03:00 PM: Take a stroll through the Kumbeshwor Temple area, known for its five-story pagoda and nearby workshops specializing in wood and stone carvings.

04:30 PM: Shop for handcrafted sculptures and souvenirs in the artisan markets near Durbar Square. You’ll find everything from small religious figurines to larger decorative pieces.

05:30 PM: Drive back to your hotel, completing the unique City tour.
