The second day of the Newari Culture Tour starts with a morning walk to Durbar Square in Kathmandu. While heading to Durbar Square, we follow the Newari alleys, Bahal, courtyards, squares, and temples on the way to Durbar Square. We stroll around Durbar Square premises and back to the hotel. After breakfast, we start our tour from the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bouddhanath Stupa. Bouddhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world, stands as a majestic symbol of Buddhist spirituality and heritage in Nepal. The popular heritage site is located in the eastnorth of Kathmandu Valley. The premises are decorated with colorful prayer flags where you can experience inner peace and tranquility. You can observe and explore the Tibetan Buddhist culture. Pilgrims circumambulate the stupa’s base spinning prayer wheels and chanting mantras. After the spiritual vibes of Bouddhanath, we will drive to Pashupatinath temple. Pashupatinath temple is a sacred Hindu temple that is popular among Hindus throughout the world. The spiritual vibes around the Temple can be experienced as soon as you reach there. The major attraction to Europeans in Pashupatinath temple is cremation at Arya Ghat. After the spiritual tour of these heritage sites, we drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square. We will have lunch around Durbar Square. After lunch, we will visit Kumari Temple, Kasthamandup, Kaal Bhairav, Museum, and many other monuments around Durbar Square. In the afternoon, we will visit another Heritage site Swoyambhunath (Monkey Temple), and complete the city tour for today.

Among the three cities of Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur city is an ancient city popular for its traditional art and culture. The Newari community is fully involved to preserve festivals, monuments, traditions, and many other rituals of Bhaktapur. We will explore their living style and their traditional occupation while touring Durbar Square. We will also visit Pottery Square to understand Pottery-making techniques. The famous 55-Window Palace, Nyatapole, Museum, and observe the oldest temple Changunarayan. In the evening drive to Nagarkot Hill for a sunrise view.

We will drive from Nagarkot to Banepa to reach Panauti. Panauti is the historical city of Nepal that nestles 36km southeast of Kathmandu. This place is inhabited by Newari people and is an important pilgrimage place for Hindus. Every 12 years a festival is celebrated at the confluence of three rivers where inhabitants take a holy bath. In the northern part of Panauti, two rivers Roshi and Panauti confluence, and the third river Punyamati which comes across the temple makes a confluence. We will Visit the Indreswor Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the nearby Brahmayani Temple. We will have details of the Panauti town, and the traditional Newari culture and people life lifestyle clearly state the influence of their culture in their daily lives. people are busy in the field with different crops like wheat, rice, potato, and other seasonal vegetables. We have a choice of hiking and driving to Namobuddha via Balthali village. Balthali is a beautiful village near Panauti through which hiking trails reach Namobuddha. Namobuddha is one of the sacred pilgrimage sites of Buddhists which has higher respect and significance in Buddhism. After completing all, we will drive to Dhulikhel to have our lunch and then will back to Kathmandu.

Today we will visit a traditional town in Lalitpur district. Khokana and Bungmati are well known for their typical Newari lifestyle. The traditional Mustard oil producing mill is still popular there. Contrarily, Bungmati lies 12km south of Kathmandu and 6km south of Patan. People here live traditionally and this place is the summer home of Rato Machhindranath. Khokana is famous for its mustard-oil seed and its functional and industrial heritage. After Khokana, we drive to Patan Durbar Square. The entire premises of Patan Durbar Square will be visited including the Patan museum. Lunch at Newari restaurant of Patan. Drive back to Kathmandu and have leisure to stroll around Thamel. The evening will be followed by Farewell Dinner.
