Upon arrival at the airport, one will be received and escorted to the hotel but on the same day taken on to tour of Patan.

Patan lies in the south of Kathmandu city and is listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO. Patan as its independent kingdom features its Durbar Square, ancient historical temples, and Museums in its vicinity that have the religion, culture, and heritage of the city. It is a home to large Buddhist community and has many stupas with Hindu art in it. There are so many historical places that exist in Patan out of which are Bungmati and Khokana which one can explore. Not only Durbar Square exists but there are also Ashoka stupas, Patan industrial states, Jwala Handicraft centers, and many Monasteries.

Bungmati
Bungmati which is 12km south of Kathmandu and 6km south of Patan is also known as Bunga in the Newari language. A river named Karmanasha flows from south to north in Nepal on the way to Bungmati. Many people still live in a traditional way that reflects their traditional culture and many lives depend upon wooden carving. Bungmati is also a summer home to Rato Machhindranath, annually a great festival happens. Its chariot is pulled from Bungmati to Patan and back to Bungmati again. Thus, Bungmati is one of the manifestations of Adi Shakti Durga.

Khokana:
Khokana is a kilometer from Bungmati where one can visit the famous four Ganeshas of the Kathmandu valley named Karyavinayak on the way to Khokana. Khokana resembles Bungmati in many ways. It is popular for producing oil as there is still an old-style wooden mill to produce oil. There is a temple named Rudrayani built in the 17th century in the Malla period.

  • Significance: Habitat for large species of birds, wild buffalo, freshwater dolphins, and migratory birds
  • Main Attractions: Wild buffalo, 300 bird species, morning jungle walk, canoe rides, birdwatching, cultural dance, Tharu village settlements
  • Best Season: October to March
Day 01

6:00 a.m.: Wake up and prepare for a morning walk around Monkey Temple. You can have a choice of walking 30 minutes to reach Swoyambhunath or using a car to reach there. If you like to view Kathmandu city during sunrise, Swoyambhunath is the best spot.

Day 02

8:00 a.m.: Back to Hotel for breakfast

Day 03

9:30 a.m.: Walk through Thamel via the inner street to reach Kathmandu Durbar Square or Drive up to Bishnumati link road and halt around Bishnumati Bridge and then walk five minutes via Bhimsenthan to reach Basantpur. Explore around Durbar Square, Kumari temple, the museum, and many other monuments like Taleju temple.

Day 04

1:00 p.m.: Enjoy lunch break. Lunch break will be 1 hour long.

Day 05

2:00 p.m.: Drive to Bouddhanath and explore the stupas and their historical importance.

Day 06

5:00 p.m.: Transfer to your hotel.
