Kathmandu Valley Buddhist Tour

Kathmandu Valley Buddhist Tour covers the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Kathmandu. Other Buddhist pilgrimage sites are Namobuddha and Pharping area. We will visit Swoyambhunath Stupa, Bouddhanath Stupa, Kapan Monastery, Pharping Monastery, and Namobuddha Monastery. The centuries-long legacy of Buddhism in Kathmandu Valley is characterized by architectural, cultural, and spiritual ways that are still alive and vibrant.

We start our Buddhist tour from Swoyambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), located in the western part of Kathmandu at a hilltop. The stupa is an iconic white dome and golden spire believed to be 2000 years old and is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists and Hindus. After Swoyambhunath, we drive to Bouddhanath Stupa and then to Kapan Monastery. Bouddhanath is located on the northern outskirts of Kathmandu and has the largest spherical stupas in Nepal and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a major center of Tibetan Buddhism where you can explore several Tibetan Monasteries like Kapan Monastery and many others. Kapan Monastery is known for its meditation courses and retreats.

Pharping and Patan city tour will be in next day. Pharping is a sacred place as Guru Rimpoche Padmasambhava attained enlightenment at Asuro cave. The area has a high level of spiritual vibes. Patan City is considered a Buddhist town in Kathmandu Valley as it is highly influenced by Buddhism. The presence of Bihar and the Buddhist Stupa significantly symbolizes the enriched Newari Buddhist art and culture.

Namo Buddha is the third day of the Buddhist tour. The pilgrimage site has a high level of spiritual significance. There are several stories about this site, as Buddha in his previous life, sacrificed his body to feed a starving tigress. The beautiful Himalayan range can be observed from this place.
