Around Gosainkunda, there are altogether 108 lakes. You may see the beauty of these lakes, rivers, peaks, and forests from Helicopter flight.
Gosainkunda is a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists. It is a religious site for Hindus and Buddhists. During summer and the Rainy season, many pilgrims visit to worship Lord Shiva. It is believed that in ancient times during Samudra Manthan lord Shiva drank poison to save this earth and its people. It is believed that Lord Shiva created this lake by striking his trident into the mountain rock to give relief to his blazing throat due to the toxicity of poison.
The lake is located in Rasuwa district, Langtang National Park at an elevation of 4380m. Almost half of the year, the lake remains frozen even though we can have a helicopter flight to visit the frozen lake and witness of yak caravan moving from the lake. Around Gosainkunda, Suryakunda, Bhairabkunda, and many other lakes can be visited. The stunning Himalayan range of Langtang Himal and many other peaks can be seen during our tour of Gosainkunda.
The Gosainkunda tour is a half-hour-long tour including a two-way flight from Kathmandu to Gosainkunda and vice-versa and 30 minutes of lake exploration time. It is one of the shortest tours by helicopter from Kathmandu. Helicopter flights are more exciting and wonderful during the spring season.
