Kathmandu Valley is formerly a big lake believed to have dried around 5000 years ago. The fertile land of Valley attracts Buffalo and cow herd communities. Around the 1st century, these communities not only established towns but also brought their beliefs regarding customs and traditions. Kirat, Licchavi, Mallas, Thakuris, and many other communities ruled this holy land. During those days, Kathmandu valley was considered as Nepal. The rulers of those days were dedicated and devoted to Buddhism and Hinduism. Up to the 9th century, Buddhism was the dominating religion of this region. Later the influence of Hinduism dominated other religious thought in this region. Nepal has been one of the key centers of Hinduism from ancient times to date which is reflected in the architecture, history, culture, traditions, and lifestyle of its people.
