Kirat, Licchavi, Mallas, Thakuris, and many other communities ruled this holy land. During those days, Kathmandu valley was considered as Nepal. The rulers of those days were dedicated and devoted to Buddhism and Hinduism. Up to the 9th century, Buddhism was the dominating religion of this region. Later the influence of Hinduism dominated other religious thought in this region.
