The hustle and bustle of Kathmandu Valley, irritating traffic during office hours, hectic office schedule, and no more personal time for self retreat and refreshment, the simple answer is a Weekend Escape with Heritage, Nature & Community Experience around Kalu Pande Samadhi. If you are traveling to Kathmandu and planning to stay for a few days, visit the Kalu Pande Samadhi area. The newly emerging tourist area of Western Kathmandu is the perfect choice, blending history and breathtaking mountain scenery from Dhaulagiri to Gaurishankar, and offering either a wonderful one-night tented camp experience or a lavish resort. This wonderful retreat offers a blend of cultural heritage, lush greenery, inspiring landscapes, and a short spiritual hike up to Badrinath Dham or the Bindabasini temple near Chhape Chaur (Switzerland Park).
Journey to Kalu Pande Samadhi – A Place of Historical Honor
The cremation site of Kalu Pandey was built to honor his contribution during Nepal Unification under the Late King Prithvi Narayan Shah, making him one of the greatest heroes in Nepal. The memorial site is located at the hilltop of Chandragiri municipality ward no. 1, Dahachwok, Indrathan, which is 16 km from the core of Kathmandu City. The serene atmosphere, fresh mountain air, wonderful landscapes, and beautiful cottage resorts are perfect for a peaceful environment, relaxation, and cultural reflection. Besides selecting a resort lavish room, we decided to set tented camp under the stars. We were so fortunate to witness the sunset at Chandragiri Hill, and immediately the sky transforms into sparkling stars, creating such a beautiful setting where we started a fire camp with music and stories. What we felt, the best opportunity to reconnect with nature and quality time with friends and family.
Panoramic Himalayan Views
The magnificent Himalayan range stretches from western Nepal to eastern Nepal and can be observed in 270 degrees. The magical moments we had captured from the viewpoint near Samadhi. The sunrise, chirping birds, and the entire Kathmandu Valley were marvelous as the first rays of the sun touched the snow-capped mountains. The cherished moment of the changing color of the Himalayan peaks made our hearts quench. As we saw, the range of Manaslu Himal, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Jugal Himal range, Gaurishankar range, and even the Tibetan Peak Shisapangma can be viewed. The spiritual hiking before breakfast was a memorable morning as we got an opportunity to visit the religious temple of lord Vishnu. And a solid interaction with locals about the possibility of sustainable tourism in this region while walking in the narrow trail of the village.
